The mayor of Vila Nova de Gaia, Eduardo Vitor Rodriguez, was sentenced on Tuesday to lose his mandate and pay a fine of 8,400 euros for the personal use of the municipality’s electric car.
Eduardo Vitor Rodriguez, who has led this Porto district municipality since 2013, after being elected by the PS, was convicted by the court of Vila Nova de Gaia for the crime of embezzlement.
The judge also sentenced the mayor’s wife for committing the same crime and also paid a fine of 8,400 euros.
“The decision rendered by the Gaya Court against the President of the Gaya Chamber on facts which the Court itself considers invalid is a complete injustice to which I will respond by going to the Court of Appeal and restoring the truth. and justice,” the mayor said.
