The Judicial Police (PJ) announced this Wednesday the arrest in the municipality of Leiria of a 41-year-old man suspected of crimes related to pornography of minors and sexual abuse of children.
In its statement, the SP announced that, through the Department of Criminal Investigations of Leiria, it had arrested at the scene of a crime a man seriously accused of pornography of minors.
“The arrest was the culmination of an investigation that lasted approximately 10 months, which resulted in a search of the house, which resulted in the discovery and seizure of a large number of, not yet fully identified, files, videos and images depicting activities and sexualized poses involving children under 12 years old,” PJ explained.
According to the statement, “expert digital investigations have led to the extraction of content that supports the crime attributed to the detainee, as well as a strong charge of the crime of sexual abuse of an 8-year-old child who was cohabiting with the detainee.” his”.
A PJ source told Lusa that the suspect, a foreigner, was arrested late Tuesday afternoon and has no police record or criminal record in Portugal.
Adding that “hundreds of files” were seized, the same source clarified that the investigation was launched after a report from an international organization.
The suspect will be brought to the judicial authorities for the first judicial interrogation.
