Li Hao Nam, a 10-year-old boy who fell into a 35-meter-deep pit in Vietnam, died on New Year’s Eve.
Rescue teams spent nearly 100 hours trying to free Li Hao Nam, but the maneuvers were unsuccessful, a local government official quoted by the newspaper said. online newspaper VnExpress.
“Authorities have determined that the victim has died and are trying to take the body for burial,” Dong Thap Southern Province Vice President Doan Tan Buu said.
The child, Li Hao Nam, apparently fell into a hole in an exposed pier while searching for scrap metal as part of work on a new bridge in the south of the country. Lee was heard calling for help shortly after he fell into the pit on Saturday morning, but rescuers lost contact with the boy, who stopped responding that Monday. The team lowered the camera to try and find Lee, who is at a depth of 35 meters.
From Monday evening until Tuesday morning, authorities placed pipes 14 meters deep, 3 of which remained on the ground, to surround the pipe into which Tai had fallen. In addition, they used a soil auger to reduce the frictional pressure directly on the pipe wall.
