The artist from St. Petersburg has been in custody since April last year and was found guilty of spreading “false information” about the Russian army.
Lawyers defended Sasha’s acquittal, arguing that due to chronic illnesses from which he suffers, he faces the risk of dying in prison.
The replaced inscriptions read: “The Russian army bombed an art school in Mariupol. About 400 people were hiding inside” and: “My great-grandfather fought in World War II for four years not to make Russia a fascist state and attack Ukraine.”
Skochilenko admitted the charges.
