The storm and its consequences
A storm warning was announced in Crimea last weekend due to strong winds and rain. Stormy weather persisted across the peninsula with minor clearings throughout the week.
In Sevastopol, as a result of the storm, the passenger pier was damaged, so boat trips on the Artillery Bay – Radiogorka route were canceled on Monday.
The new paving slabs on Khrustalny beach were washed away by waves in Sevastopol Bay. In addition, the waves washed a trading post from this beach into the sea. He was later found on the opposite shore of the bay. Residents actively discussed floating the “unmanned outpost” in the bay on social media.
On the night of November 13-14, as a result of bad weather, an accident occurred on the power lines in the city of Saki. Most of the city’s residents were left without electricity. Specialists worked to eliminate the consequences all night. In the morning the power supply was restored.
military situation
Stormy weather also reportedly influenced the frequency of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Crimea.
According to the Ministry of Defense, on November 16 three drones were intercepted off the coast of Crimea.
The next day, for the first time in the last 9 days, an air raid warning was announced again in Sevastopol. At approximately 10:40, air defenses shot down two Neptune anti-ship missiles.
On the same day it was reported that the landing of troops in Crimea had been stopped. According to the Ministry of Defense, a Villard-type ship with a landing party of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and 7 unmanned ships were destroyed near the western coast of the peninsula.
On November 13, news came of the death of the chief of staff of the 810th separate marine brigade of the Black Sea Fleet, Yan Sukhanov. The lieutenant colonel is reported to have died in a Moscow hospital, where he was injured after being wounded during the liberation of Mariupol.
“During treatment in a Moscow hospital, doctors diagnosed another insidious disease that did not allow the body to cope with the injuries received.”stated the city’s governor, Mikhail Razvozhaev, on his Telegram channel.
In the context of endless attacks on the peninsula, the decision of the Crimean government to abandon the massive New Year and Christmas festivities seems expected.
“The main priority is safety. But, of course, we will do everything necessary to create a festive atmosphere in Crimea.”said the head of the republic Sergei Aksenov
The head of Crimea promised to organize small events for children. In populated areas of Crimea, Christmas trees will be installed and streets will be decorated in New Year’s style.
Support for the tourism industry
In Crimea and Sevastopol, the authorities continue to provide financial support to the tourism industry, which is suffering due to the military situation and international sanctions.
Entities in the Crimean tourism sector received subsidies at the rate of 4 minimum wages per employee. The total amount of payments amounted to 2.1 billion rubles and they were received by more than 2.7 thousand legal entities and individual entrepreneurs.

Increase in tariffs for housing and communal services.

In Crimea they will increase by 9.5%, in Sevastopol by 9.8%. For comparison, the average index of the amount of payments made by citizens for public services in Moscow will increase to 11%, in St. Petersburg – to 9.8%.
Nationalization of the property of Ukrainian oligarchs.
37 previously nationalized real estate objects will be auctioned. Among other things, the “Europa” recreation center in Partenit, which was previously owned by the Dnepropetrovsk oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, attracts attention.
