The temperature at Nilton Santos Stadium on Friday was around 60 degrees, which also caused more than a thousand fans to pass out during the artist’s performance.
Ana Clara Machado, the 23-year-old girl who died, was a psychology student interning at a kindergarten. The singer mourned the death of her fan and postponed the concert scheduled for Saturday to avoid further incidents.
The company behind Taylor Swift’s concert has come under fire after it was revealed water was not allowed into the concert venue. However, the Brazilian government announced the launch of an investigation.
Brazil is experiencing intense heat, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in Rio de Janeiro on Friday. In several areas of the city the temperature reached 59 degrees.
