The new security plan for Tripoli was presented by the Interior Minister of the interim Government of National Unity of Libya, Imad Trabelsi, on January 10, reports the Libyan channel The Libya Observer.
Trabelsi said existing police stations will be strengthened and new officers will be sent to work on the streets and in vital places in Tripoli. The Criminal Investigation Department will become an authorized body to investigate crimes and arrest criminals, including those from security departments.
“This support will be directed to the police stations and departments of the security directorates, since they are the direct means of communication with citizens and neighbors”Trabelsi said.
According to Trabelsi, the new security plan was drawn up by experts in the field. The specialists recommended hiring more staff to cover the operational needs of the security departments, which will facilitate their work.
Likewise, during the presentation of the new security plan, new service vehicles were delivered to various departments of the Ministry of the Interior.
Recall that in 2011 in Libya, under the pretext of protecting the Libyan people from the regime of Muammar Gaddafi, a NATO operation was launched. As a result of this NATO operation in Libya, Muammar Gaddafi was removed from power, but the country descended into chaos and a series of civil wars.
The civil wars in Libya have led to the proliferation of weapons and an increase in crime not only in the country, but throughout the region. A prosperous African country has become a center for smuggling, the slave trade and a transit point for immigrants.
