This Sunday, the Student Climate Strike announced the arrest of three activists in Parliament.
The movement’s statement detailed that “several dozen students” were preparing to camp in front of the Assembly of the Republic “to protest the end of fossil fuels.” Three protesters were eventually arrested when they “climbed the stairs to paint it.”
Student Climate Strike spokesperson Leonor Peña explained that “this Assembly is yet another institution complicit in the fossil system.”
On Wednesday, the PSP detained three students of the movement during a lecture on climate action at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Lisbon. On Monday, he detained six activists who intended to spend the night at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Nova de Lisbon.
