After the “summer of São Martinho” that marked the first weeks of November, a mass of polar cold will arrive in Portugal this Tuesday, causing a significant drop in temperatures throughout the territory. The information was released by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
This week in Lisbon and Porto, maximum temperatures will drop by at least five degrees, while minimum temperatures will range from six to 11 degrees.
In Guarda, minimum temperatures will be between zero and five degrees, with the coldest temperatures expected on Friday (lows zero and highs eight).
Temperatures will also be cooler in Vila Real, with a minimum of one to five degrees and a maximum of ten to 14. In Alentejo, the minimum is expected to be four to ten degrees and a maximum of 15 to 17.
On the island of Madeira, the minimum temperature will be from two to seven degrees, and the maximum will be from ten to 14.
At stake for this sharp drop in temperature is the Azores anticyclone. This will bring a ton of cold, dry polar air, meaning no precipitation is expected.
