The president of FC Porto on Tuesday responded for the first time to the disrespect at the Blue and White General Assembly in an interview with the publication SIC.
“I have to say what everyone feels. This is a very unpleasant moment when partners are against partners. I have to regret it. We have already taken all measures to prevent this from happening again,” he clarified.
The General Assembly of FC Porto ended early due to clashes between its members. Before the meeting, Andre Villas-Boas said that the conditions for holding it were not met.
The leader of the “blue and white” did not specify whether the identities of the attackers had been established. Pinto da Costa also adds that he does not know what punishment a person guilty of contempt of court may face.
“The only person I could identify was Enrique. [Ramos]. The rest didn’t know the people, didn’t know anyone who was involved.”
“It was a bad night,” the Dragons president said, condemning the circulation of images of the meeting in the media. “For many it was joy. On some TV channels it was ‘forrobodo,'” he adds.
“We should criticize but not make it public so that our enemies can make it a national flag.”
“There were bylaws discussed that didn’t justify all the fuss,” he claims. The Blue-White leader also assured that he would vote against the charter because he did not agree.
Regarding Enrique Ramos’ statements that caused disrespect: “It does not make sense that people from the Algarve, who are members of the Algarve, should come to Porto to vote when we have Porto at home in the Algarve.”
“He is right. There is no headquarters in a village or small town, the headquarters is in the houses of the members. When the commission proposed votes, it was not in these houses,” he guarantees.
Pinto da Costa replied to Villas-Boas
Pinto da Costa responded to Andre Villas-Boas, who accused the dragoons of being hostages of the “Praetorian Guard”. “What exists at Porto is a fan base. The same fan base with the same behavior as when Andre Villas-Boas was Porto coach,” he declares.
As for Super Dragões, Porto’s president admits that he does not have a “special” relationship with the fan. “I don’t have a special friendship with Fernando Madureira, he’s not my everyday partner. I have a good relationship, I admire him, because he completed his studies, studied…”
The leader of the blue and white also spoke about the relationship he had with the former coach of the blue and white. “I spoke to him at Fernando Gomez’s funeral, but I didn’t see him until then,” he recalls, and also denies any hard feelings.
“Grief is when someone dear to us dies. I’m surprised, but I don’t comment.”
However, Pinto da Costa appears to be delighted by the possible candidate’s recent statements. “It surprises me, but I don’t comment. If he does this, he has some purpose. He has every right to be associated, but I am not commenting,” he said and stressed that he did not feel “offended.” “.
The President of FC Porto responded to negative reviews
Pinto da Costa points out that the Blues and Whites could have a positive impact if they sold players like Otavio before the start of the season.
“Our goal is also sporting. They sold a player, got money, and how many points did they score in the Champions League? 0,” says Pinto da Costa. Benfica have 0 points in the group stage of this year’s Champions League.
“Caring for justice is a throwing weapon,” says Pinto da Costa, who remembers that when fans come to the museum, they want to see “titles.”
Can be reused
Pinto da Costa did not say whether he would re-candidate for the presidency of FC Porto, he only assured that he has three goals.
“Reapply? I have no idea. I’m only concerned about three goals. To reach the 1/8 finals of the Champions League, put the cars on the ground at the Academy and present positive results and positive capital.”
The future of Sérgio Conceição
The president of the blue and white clarifies that he cannot provide any news about the negotiations to extend the contract of Sergio Conceição, the current coach of FC Porto.
“Does any coach renew a contract without knowing who he will be working with?” he asks.
Pinto da Costa spoke about his rivals
“Balconies? I was very pleased to see that the president of the rival club was very interested in my leaving. When I watch the station that competes with yours every day, there are four guys saying bad things about me. This is a sign that they want me to leave. And when the president of a club like Sporting takes the opportunity to come against me and see if he can get me out of here, I’m happy, that’s a medal for me.”
