
On the proposal of Uzbekistan, the upcoming 43rd session of the UNESCO General Assembly will be held in Samarkand, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports on November 23.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “The 42nd session of the General Assembly, which took place in the French capital, supported Uzbekistan’s proposal to hold the next 43rd session in 2025 in the city of Samarkand and made a corresponding decision.”
At the same time, the department notes that “For the first time in more than 40 years, a session of the UNESCO General Assembly will take place outside of Paris.”
According to the president of the 42nd session, Simon-Mirel Miculescu, representative of the foreign policy department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan: “This is a diplomatic success.”
Let us remember that UNESCO is a special agency of the United Nations founded in November 1945 with headquarters in Paris. The organization includes 193 countries that participate in addressing issues of education, science and culture, as well as attractions included in the World Heritage List.
