Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged with misconduct by the English Football Federation in a case in which he took a mobile phone from a child’s hands after Manchester United’s game against Everton in April this year.
The player is accused of “inappropriate and/or violent behavior” after he dropped the mobile phone of a 14-year-old autistic teenager who was taking pictures while United were in the dressing room on the ground.
Later, Ronaldo apologized, offered the family the opportunity to attend the game at Old Trafford, but the young man’s mother did not accept the offer.
Manchester United have already publicly backed Ronaldo following this federal decision. “We have taken note of the federation’s statement regarding Cristiano Ronaldo. We will support the player in response to this accusation.”
According to the English press, Ronaldo faces a fine or possible disqualification.
