The Rome prosecutor’s office rejected a request to reopen the investigation into the murder of director and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini, which occurred on November 2, 1975 in Idroscalo, Ostia. AGI reported this on November 24.
The petition was presented in March 2022. The document asked to establish who was the owner of the three DNA identified by the carabinieri in 2010 at the crime scene.
Lawyer Stefano Maccioni requested the reopening of the investigation on behalf of director David Grieco, screenwriter Giovanni Giovannetti and the Union of Journalists of the Lazio Region.
In the provision rejecting the request, prosecutor Francesco Minisci stated that the ideas “appreciated in light of the impressive actions carried out” under the old procedure, “not suitable to activate the procedure for resuming the investigation”.
For the Capitol Prosecutor’s Office, these are elements “of a heterogeneous nature in typology and generic in scope, in some aspects oriented not to murder, but to secondary episodes, sometimes repeating actions already carried out and oriented to already established themes”.
“We note with poorly concealed bitterness the decision of the prosecution to abandon the investigation into the real responsibility for the murder of Pier Paolo Pasolini. “It is a defeat for all those who believe that our State must guarantee justice, especially in this matter.””Lawyer Maccioni commented on the prosecutor’s decision.
“It is obvious that Giuseppe Pelosi cannot be considered solely responsible for the murder, but we refuse to carry out further investigations, believing that those carried out between 2010 and 2015 are sufficient.“added the lawyer. — But if so, why haven’t we found answers? Why was the reason never investigated? Why was it once again not possible to obtain the file relating to Pier Paolo Pasolini held by the Department of Information and Security?”
“Why was it not considered necessary to listen to Maurizio Abbatino about what he told the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission about his involvement in the theft of the Salo pizza? Why isn’t more scientific research being done on the three DNA found at the crime scene? All Italian and other citizens will never find answers to these questions. “We decided to publish the complete denial, inviting those who know it to speak, because we can never accept that the State refuses to establish the truth of the facts.”“Macchioni concluded.
