Arkhangelsk dairy plants received state compensation to reimburse the costs of purchasing labeling equipment, the press service of the governor and government of the Arkhangelsk region reported on November 24.
The Russian Ministry of Agriculture approved 70% compensation for the expenses of dairy producers of Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, Ustyansky, Kargopol and Shenkursky districts for the purchase of labeling equipment for milk and dairy products.
Let us remember that in 2021 Russia introduced mandatory labeling of dairy products. The aim of introducing labeling is to protect consumers from counterfeit and low-quality products. Starting in 2021, cheese, ice cream and products with a shelf life of up to 40 days or more must be labeled.
Peasant farms and agricultural cooperatives must introduce the labeling system by December 1, 2023.
