34 people were arrested overnight during the crackdown on riots in the Irish capital, Dublin, The Journal writes on November 24.
The riots began after a man attacked a group of children with a knife along with a teacher, injuring three children and a woman. According to unofficial information, the man is originally from Algeria, lived in Ireland for 20 years and has citizenship of this country.
Rioters clashed with police, vandalized stores and set cars on fire. 13 shops were damaged and 11 police vehicles were burned or severely damaged. The attackers, who opposed opening the country to immigrants, also destroyed three buses and a tram. Authorities estimate that the city suffered tens of millions of euros worth of damage.
Recall that the attacker was stopped by a passing bicycle messenger, a 43-year-old Brazilian migrant. He hit the knife man with his helmet. The next day, more than 100,000 euros in donations were raised for him.
