The Angolan President this Friday expressed solidarity with the families of some 70 people killed by lightning in the provinces of Huambo and Huila in recent days after heavy rains.
“Having learned of the tragic atmospheric episodes of recent days in the provinces of Huila and Huambo, which resulted in the death of about 70 fellow citizens due to a direct lightning strike, I join in the pain and suffering of their families and friends,” he said. The President ordered the development of a number of initiatives such as direct monitoring of the situation, providing all useful support to the victims and strengthening awareness-raising efforts to avoid exposure to rays.
