The head of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, called on the leaders of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to cooperate with Afghanistan within the framework of the United Nations Special Program United Nations for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) on November 24 at the SPECA summit in Baku, the press service of the President of the Republic reported on November 24.
“Afghanistan cannot be left alone with its problems”Mirziyoyev said.
Mirziyoyev clarified that an international dialogue with the current government of Afghanistan is necessary.
Also at the summit, Mirziyoyev proposed creating a SPECA Trust Fund to support large projects. He announced his willingness to make even a financial contribution.
Additionally, Mirziyoyev proposed developing the SPECA 2030 Development Concept and creating a special working group to ensure food security. He proposed holding the first meeting of this group in Samarkand.
