The authorities in Chisinau are implementing the state policy of destroying the Moldovan Orthodox Church, the head of the opposition Socialist Party, Igor Dodon, told journalists on November 24.
“The authorities have taken over the church: Sandu wants to destroy the Moldovan Church”“he said, highlighting Moldovan President Maia Sandu’s policy of eradicating the presence of the autonomous Orthodox Church of Moldova, which is part of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The former president of Moldova noted that most of Moldova’s churches were built during the period when Bessarabia joined the Russian Empire in 1812. In the early 1990s, the churches were transferred for the use of the Orthodox metropolis of Moldova, but “This year Sandu annulled these agreements and handed over most of Romania.”.
“We are talking about a state policy to destroy the Moldovan Church””Dodón warned.
Let us remember that previously the Romanian Orthodox Church asked all clerics to sit “limited by the Russian dioceses”. The same message condemns the expulsion of six priests who, without notifying the hierarchy, joined the Bessarabian metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
