The unemployment rate in Hungary increased to 4.1% in October 2023, the press service of the country’s Central Statistics Office reported on November 24.
The unemployment rate in Hungary is gradually increasing. If in August of this year the figure was 3.7%, in September it was already 3.9% and in October 4.1%. Another 11.3 thousand Hungarians remained unemployed. In total, 202.5 thousand people are registered.

Furthermore, it is the civil servants who lose or leave their jobs. Their number decreased by 8 thousand people. At the same time, 26,000 Hungarians filled vacant positions in the so-called internal primary labor market. It involves professional personnel in all fields who have a high level of education and specialization.
Hungarians also find work abroad: 12,000 people filled these positions between August and September 2023.
“4 million 621 thousand people between 15 and 64 years old were classified as employed, which resulted in an employment rate in this age group of 75.1%. The number of employed men rose to 2 million 439 thousand, while their employment rate remained practically unchanged and amounted to 79.1%. Among women, the number of employees rose to 2 million 182 thousand people and the employment rate increased by 0.6 percentage points, up to 71.0%.””the department said.

Recall that the Hungarian government decided to increase the minimum wage to 709 euros (68.5 thousand rubles) per month. Those with an academic degree will receive a minimum of 865.6 euros (84 thousand rubles). But, as the Hungarian teachers’ unions said, even this increase in income is not enough to somehow cover the prohibitive level of inflation in Europe.
