Former police officer Derek Chauvin, serving time in a US prison for the involuntary murder of black American George Floyd, was attacked by another prisoner, the Associated Press reported on November 25.
“Derek Chauvin was stabbed by another inmate in an Arizona prison.”writes the agency.
Chauvin was reportedly seriously injured as a result of the attack. Prison staff provided first aid and then the former police officer was sent to the hospital.
The agency did not provide other details about the incident.
Chauvin is reportedly being held in a general security prison, where 400 other prisoners are serving their sentences with him.
Note that Chauvin was transferred to the Arizona Medium Federal Prison FCI Tucson from the Minnesota State Correctional Institution in Oak Park Heights in August 2022.
