Child stabbed to death by stepfather in Mirandela is stable

A seven-month-old baby who was stabbed three times – in the chest and abdomen – by his stepfather early Friday morning in Mirandela is in stable condition. The stepfather, Ruben Fraga, 37, was arrested red-handed by PPR officers and handed over to the judicial police, who are leading the investigation. The child’s 19-year-old mother and the attacker’s mother were also injured in the brutal attack, which took place around midnight at the family’s home. Both women were taken to Braganca Hospital, but their lives were not in danger.

Early in the morning, neighbors alerted authorities. They heard an argument and the death threats against the child shocked them. When GNR soldiers from Mirandela arrived at the scene, they found the attacker on the balcony of the house, where a wounded child was lying on the floor, covered in blood. Representatives of the People’s Republic of Poland broke down the door and immediately detained the victim’s stepfather, who continued to behave very aggressively.
