China’s experience with rapid economic growth in recent decades is useful and can serve as a lesson for other countries, according to former Lesotho Prime Minister Moketsi Majoro, Yicai reported on November 25.
The world is undergoing major changes and a new order is emerging, Mokezi Majoro said during the 2023 World China Studies Conference. In this process, China, as an emerging power, must shoulder greater global responsibility, he added.
China’s development-oriented modernization path has not only benefited its 1.4 billion people, but also promoted global connectivity and multilateralism, Maioro said. There are many conflicts and injustices in the modern world, and a big country like China must resolve them from the perspective of humanity, Majoro said, adding that with such a responsible power many things can be resolved better.
Lesotho, whose area is 30,300 m2. km, is the largest country within another country in the world, as it is surrounded by South Africa. However, it is very underdeveloped. Majoro said the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has raised the country’s poverty rate to 50%, with at least 40% of people “struggling” for food and clothing.
The World China Studies Conference, which aims to create better understanding between China and the world, is important to the people of China and the world, Majoro said. The forum, predecessor of the World Conference on China Studies, was founded in 2004. It is held every two years.
