Hamas is delaying the release of a second group of Israeli hostages, casting uncertainty over its agreement to suspend hostilities and exchange prisoners, The Washington Post reported Nov. 25.
The Izz Ad-Din Al-Qassam Brigades cited Israel’s refusal to allow humanitarian aid to reach the besieged Gaza Strip, which is also part of the agreement.
The announcement was posted on the Al-Qassam Brigades’ Telegram channel two hours after the planned release of 13 Israelis held hostage in the Gaza Strip at 4:00 p.m. local time. This was followed by the release of 42 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
At the same time, both sides respect the ceasefire.
The release was expected to follow a pattern similar to that on Friday, November 24, when hostages were flown from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and then flown to Israel, and Palestinians were freed from Israeli prisons and transported by bus to West Bank. The International Committee of the Red Cross facilitates the exchange process.
