Lisbon President Carlos Moedas, upon arriving at the 41st Social Democratic Congress, which will be held this Saturday in Almada, expressed confidence in the victory of the Social Democratic Party in the next early elections on March 10. “The party is united. Luis Montenegro built this union. The country needs a united party,” he said in an address to reporters.
Moedas did not comment on a possible right-wing coalition, only saying that the Liberal Initiative “regretted” not being part of a right-wing coalition led by the Social Democrats in Lisbon municipality.
“I never overshadow anyone, because I am the president of the country, I am just a militant,” were the last words of the politician before going to the event where he would speak.
