A department to work with storm drainage will be created in Sevastopol, the city governor Mikhail Razvozhaev announced on his Telegram channel on November 25.
According to him, the collapse of the retaining wall near the stairs on the street. Admiral Oktyabrsky exposed a problem that had been brewing for a long time in the city.
“Wastewater and drainage systems must be treated with detail and professionalism. In Sevastopol there is no one specifically responsible.”Razvozhaev said.
The governor said this work is now distributed among the municipal services department, water companies and management companies.
“We have developed and approved a storm drainage plan, we are designing LOS-4, storm drainage treatment plants for most of the Leninsky district, but we need an organization that will be responsible for this area”Razvozhaev explained.
In his opinion, a structure similar to that of Mosvodostok in Moscow should be created in Sevastopol.
“Therefore, now we will create a separate department in the Vodokanal, which will be responsible for the city’s drainage system, and in the future, when we implement the plan, we will turn this division into a separate service.”Razvozhaev said.
Let us remember that on the morning of November 25 in Sevastopol a retaining wall collapsed near the street stairs. Admiral Oktyabrsky. In June, a crack in the wall and its inclination towards the road was discovered. In September the emergency area was dismantled and residents’ access to the stairs was blocked.
Razvozhaev suggests that the collapse of the containment structure was allegedly caused by the repair of the stairs, which was carried out in 2018 under the government of Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov. Then, according to him, the storm drain pipes were blocked. As a result, rainwater from the upper level of the stairs began to saturate the rubble masonry on the stair wall instead of flowing toward the street. He promised that law enforcement would deal with those responsible for those repairs.
