Four students were killed and more than 60 injured in a stampede during the Cochin University festival in India, the Press Trust of India reported on November 25.
“Four students, including two boys and two girls, died while more than 60 others were admitted to Kalamassery Medical College Hospital and other nearby places.”the message said.
It was reported that the stampede occurred as a result of heavy rain. When a sudden downpour began, students ran downstairs to the auditorium, resulting in the death of four students and four others in critical condition.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed condolences over the death of the students. All planned cultural and artistic events have been cancelled. Pertinent instructions were given to relevant ministers to coordinate actions.
