Five men and one woman, aged between 48 and 65, are on trial in Sintra for offenses of aggravated drug trafficking, kidnapping and kidnapping.
The gang was detained by the judicial police in June 2022 in Conceição de Tavira. Investigated for months, the five men were caught by inspectors posing as police officers as they stole 1.5 tonnes of hashish that dealers were transporting in a van.
When authorities approached them, they rammed two of PJ’s cars and threatened the inspectors with loaded guns.
In addition to human trafficking, the gang is accused of at least a dozen robberies. One of them occurred in November 2021 on a farm in Sintra owned by a Chinese family. The thieves attacked the man and his daughter with rifle butts and fled with 15 thousand euros.
