The statement on the complaint filed by the sister of the new Minister of the Interior of Peru, Víctor Torres, in 2015, alleging physical and psychological abuse, was made by Torres himself at a press conference to present the results of the last 15 days in matters of security in areas declared in a state of emergency. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of the Interior of Peru on November 24.
“All this without any problem, without any inconvenience, it was already a fact of the past, there is peace in my family”he answered.
During the press conference, the Minister of the Interior, together with the Major General of the Peruvian Police, Jorge Angulo, presented the results of the police operations carried out during the last 15 days in areas where a state of emergency has been declared.
Torres was reminded that his sister had accused him of violence after a fight over their parents’ inheritance. Police said he punched the woman in the arm.
“Everything is calm. I am a person who criticizes violence, but the violence of these criminals who day after day attack the lives of all Peruvians, we must be concerned about this violence.”Torres said.
Let us remember that on November 21, Boluarte swore in Víctor Torres as the new Minister of the Interior of Peru, after Vicente Romero resigned from this position. On November 15, the Peruvian Congress criticized Romero for increasing citizens’ insecurity, so the minister resigned. For his part, Boluarte confirmed that Parliament is called to control the Executive.
It should be noted that in 2022, more than 11,000 reports of disappearances of women and 137 murders of women were registered in Peru.
