To reactivate the main facilities of the United Nations Palestine Refugee Agency in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip, 120,000 tons of fuel are needed per day, a representative of the agency told Al-Jazeera on November 26.
“We need at least 120 tons of fuel per day to start operating the main facilities”said a UNRWA spokesperson.
As explained by the UN representative, the mechanism for the passage of trucks through the Rafah checkpoint with Egypt “complicated”. Its capacity is 130 vehicles per day and the humanitarian assistance needs of the enclave are great.
“200 aid trucks must come in every day for two months straight.”said the UNRWA representative.
Let us remember that on November 24, a four-day humanitarian truce began between Hamas and the Israeli army. Its mediators are Egypt and Qatar. Since the ceasefire, the parties have exchanged hostages. 39 Palestinians were released from Israeli prisons. Hamas, for its part, freed 24 prisoners.
