It is becoming increasingly difficult to service Korean-made cars in the Russian Federation, the information resource BFM.ru reported on November 26.
A unique situation has arisen in the case of Korean cars on the Russian market. As noted by automotive expert and journalist Maxim Rakitin, despite the lack of official deliveries of Hyundai and Kia since the spring, these brands are still available through parallel imports. However, its factories in Russia are not operating or producing Chinese-made cars. This situation has an impact on warranty service and spare parts availability.
Car dealers, trying to sell the remaining Korean cars, set high prices, while warranty service and repairs are transferred to the dealers themselves. Rakitin highlights that now the car warranty is no longer an obligation of the manufacturer, but depends on the willingness of dealers to provide such services.
Igor Morzharetto, partner at the analytical agency Autostat, also highlights the difficult market situation. He said dealers are overpricing the latest Korean cars, leading to stagnant sales.
The question of the availability of spare parts for Korean cars also remains relevant. According to Pavel Yudin, general director of the Korean spare parts warehouse “Avtospets”, the supply of spare parts is limited, but is carried out regularly. Yudin points out that despite possible delivery delays and a 25-35% cost increase over the past year, spare parts are still available in original and non-original versions.
