About $350 million is planned to be invested in the construction of a cobalt and copper processing plant in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zoom-eco reports on November 22.
It is indicated that representatives of the American company DELPHOS addressed the country’s authorities requesting assistance and support in the implementation of this project.
The new plant plans to obtain raw materials for the production of batteries: cobalt sulfate and copper cathodes.
“We ask for your support to implement this project, which will be very beneficial for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, because it will ultimately put the country on a path of benefit for all Congolese, as opposed to mining and exports… We will take the mineral processing back to the local level,” DELPHOS stated.
The Ministry of Economy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced its willingness to support the DELPHOS project.
