A four-year-old Argentinean boy was beaten to death for stealing chocolate. The main suspects in the attacks are the mother and stepfather.
Wife Victoria Belén Godoy and partner Luis Alberto Gallo said the boy, Renzo, “fell into the tub” and suffered serious injuries before being taken to a hospital in Berazategui, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Upon arrival at the hospital, the child was declared dead, and an autopsy revealed that she had been beaten. There were already bruises on the boy’s body that preceded those inflicted on the day of death.
Both the boy’s mother and stepfather are in police custody on murder charges. The authorities report alleges that the mother’s partner beat the child for eating chocolate that the man brought home to offer to his stepdaughters.
According to the British newspaper Mirror, the couple remains silent and does not cooperate with the authorities. The couple were together for about 14 months and lived with Victoria’s five children: a two-month-old toddler, two girls and two boys, including Renzo.
The couple’s crime was condemned by Renzo’s brother during police interrogation. The boy said that his stepfather grabbed him by the neck and forced him to say who ate the candy, and then he told him that it was Renzo.
He got scared and said it was Renzo. [o padrasto] started spanking him. My brother saw everything,” the child’s aunt said in a statement to the local press. “He was killed for eating chocolate.”
