The US Navy destroyer Mason, located in the Gulf of Aden as part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier strike group, was attacked: two ballistic missiles were launched from territory controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, the press service of the United States Central Command. reported on November 27 (CENTCOM).
“The missiles fell in the Gulf of Aden, approximately ten nautical miles from the ships. None of the ships suffered any damage during this incident.”says the message.
According to CENTCOM, missiles were fired at the destroyer when it responded to a distress call from the tanker Central Park, which had been hijacked by pirates. The militants then tried to escape, but American sailors caught up with them. A missile attack followed.
Let us remember that Central Park was captured on November 26 by five militants. The ship’s crew locked themselves in a safe place. The pirates were unable to reach the crew, after which they attempted to escape.
