A storm warning was announced in the Stavropol Territory due to unfavorable weather conditions and strong gusty westerly winds, the press service of the region’s Emergency Situations Ministry reported on November 27.
The hydrometeorological center of the Stavropol region reports that very strong winds are forecast throughout the day on November 27 in the northern part of the region, with gusts that can reach 30 meters per second.
Note that this wind speed is defined as a “severe thunderstorm” on the Beaufort scale. If the wind speed is greater than 32.6 meters per second, it will be classified as a hurricane.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Stavropol Territory, emergencies may occur associated with breaks in power and communication lines due to wind and fallen trees, damage to weakly reinforced structures, collapse of roofs of buildings, disruption of life support systems of the population and an increase in the number of traffic accidents.
