Failed plans have been put forward to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the US edition of the Daily Beast reported on November 27.
According to the publication, one of the plans to overthrow the Kim Jong-un regime was conceived in 2017 and was financed by South Korean intelligence.
The plan was organized by the CEO of the South Korean non-profit organization, To Hee Yun, as well as Kim Sung Il, who acted from Khabarovsk. In Russia, potential assassins wanted to buy weapons. However, their intentions did not come true, as several organizers were detained in the DPRK.
The publication also reported that, according to another plan, it was planned to eliminate Kim Jong-un during his trip to Vladivostok. But the North Korean security services knew about it. As a result, the North Korean leader’s visit to Russia was canceled. Several dozen people were arrested.
Since the founding of this State, attempts have been made to eliminate the leaders of the DPRK, but they have never been successful. Pyongyang previously announced the capture of an assassin trying to kill Kim Jong-un. It was reported that he was a North Korean recruited by the CIA and South Korean intelligence.
