The Spanish Civil Guard detained two brothers of Brazilian nationality in Estepona, Andalusia, on suspicion of terrorist offenses and alleged links to the extremist group Daesh.
According to the General Directorate of the Civil Guard, agents of the Information Service, supported by the Special Intervention Unit (UEI) and the Rapid Action Group (GAR), detained the two men under the direction of the National Audience Prosecutor’s Office and the Judicial Instruction Center No. 5, whose owner ordered his arrest.
The detainees were allegedly involved in the process of radicalization and used encrypted instant messaging platforms to demonstrate their active support for Daesh (in its Arabic acronym).
