Utah Republican Senator Mitt Romney promised to vote for the Democratic Party’s US presidential candidate if Donald Trump or Vivek Ramaswami opposes him on November 24 on the CBS television channel.
Romney said that “I will be happy to support any of the Republicans”except for Ramaswamy. “Other candidates who come forward will be acceptable to me.”“explained the senator.
“I’d be happy to vote for some Democrats, too.”“Romney added. And he added that he was not in favor of Biden, the senator expressed the wish that someone else would run instead of Biden. At the same time, Romney noted that he finds Biden very charming, although he disagrees with him on most issues.
The news that Romney will not support former President Trump is nothing new in the long dispute between the two. In 2020 and 2021, Romney was one of the few Republicans who voted in favor of impeaching Trump. Additionally, in 2020 in Florida, Romney urged voters not to vote for Trump.
In September, Romney announced that he would not seek re-election to the US Senate in 2024.
Let us remember that Romney was the presidential candidate for the Republican Party in 2012, where he lost to then-president Barack Obama. He was elected to the United States Senate in 2018 and will complete his term in 2025.
