This Thursday, the Advocacia-Geral da União (AGU) of Brazil applied to the court to freeze €1.1 million worth of assets belonging to 52 individuals and seven companies that allegedly financed Sunday’s attack on three authorities in Brasilia.
Defenders of the state claim that these 59 people and companies “financed the rental of buses for the coup that led to the destruction” of the headquarters of the President, Congress and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
The seized amount of 6.5 million reais will be used to “repair the damage caused by the looting of public property in the event of a subsequent conviction”, according to the AGU note, which emphasizes that the amount requested is provisional because that the damage has not yet been fully calculated. .
