This Monday, the PS criticized the head of the City Council of Coimbra, who refuses to provide a detailed financial report on the costs of the Coldplay concerts, while the Socialists admitted that they had contacted the “competent authorities”.
At the end of October, before the agenda of the executive meeting, the vice-president of the Coimbra Chamber, Francisco Veiga, showed a presentation of the costs associated with four concerts of the British group Coldplay, which took place in May.
At the time, the vice president said that concert organizer Everything New had invested 545,000 euros in restoring the Estácio Cidade de Coimbra, but did not provide any document detailing such investments.
“I formally requested a written report, but he refused to provide it, citing the fact that the presentation [o vice-presidente] made at the meeting of the Chamber”, said PS councilor Regina Bento this Monday, considering that this presentation is not enough and that a detailed financial report of the entire operation is necessary, namely all the investments made by the promoter in the Cidade de Coimbra stadium, which “is a public utility “
An opposition councilor accused the executive led by the Juntos Somos Coimbra coalition (PSD/CDS/nós/Cidadãos!/PPM/Aliança/RIR and Volt) of not being transparent about the stadium promoter’s expenses.
“They violate the Constitution, the Code of Administrative Procedure and the internal control standard that this leader approved. “I repeat the requests already made for the financial report on Coldplay’s concerts to be brought before the House so that it can be analyzed and discussed,” he said.
Regina Bento emphasized that if this is not done, the PS will turn “to the competent authorities with a request to make the report public.”
In response to the Lusa agency, the adviser clarified that the PS can apply to the Commission on Access to Administrative Documents (CADA) and the General Inspectorate of Finance.
The vice-president of the Coimbra Chamber said that the interventions at the Cidade de Coimbra stadium were carried out within the framework of an autonomous agreement between the organizer and the Coimbra Academy Association – Autonomous Football Organization (AAC/OAF), the club. what works, that the equipment is sports.
“What happened between Everything is New and AAC/OAF does not concern us,” Francisco Veiga emphasized.
Coimbra Mayor José Manuel Silva accused the PS of having a “village mentality”, saying that if the opposition had doubts about Everything is New’s reports, they should approach the promoter directly for detailed investments.
“This has nothing to do with less or more transparency,” he stressed, accusing the PS of “demagoguery” since the stadium is run by the AAC/OAF.
