Mongolia is working to become self-sufficient in food, said the Prime Minister of Mongolia, Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, in a meeting with representatives of the agricultural, meat, dairy and other food industries, reports the information portal ikon.mn.
The report notes that the meeting discussed the current state of the industry, current problems and ways to solve them.
The Prime Minister noted that the food and agricultural sector is one of Mongolia’s main development sectors, noting that Mongolia is working to fully meet its domestic needs for basic food products and then become an exporting country.
It is indicated that, in particular, in 2023-2024 it was decided not to establish quantitative restrictions on the export and import of all types of animal meat. As of November 15 of this year, 70 thousand tons of meat were exported, four times more than in the same period in 2022.
