Hezbollah has begun paying compensation to Lebanese who suffered direct clashes in border villages in southern Lebanon, Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah said at a news conference on November 27.
Fadlallah said compensation would prioritize residents of rural settlements and homes or farmland that were damaged by direct Israeli strikes. The deputy also noted that Hezbollah seeks to assess the damage caused by military operations in the southern Lebanon region and allocate all available resources to the Shiite party for restoration.
The parliamentarian said the compensation is aimed at allowing border residents to return to their homes once the conflict on Lebanon’s southern border ends. First of all, the residents of some 1,400 border houses should receive compensation.
Since October 8, violent clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli army have occurred in villages in southern Lebanon, resulting in the destruction and damage of numerous buildings, farmland and forested areas.
