Three men aged between 17 and 21 were arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) on suspicion of kidnapping, robbery, extortion and abuse of a guarantee card or card, device or payment data in Vila do Conde, Povoa de Varzim and Porto. , this Sunday and Monday.
Early this Sunday morning, the accused approached a man in Vila do Conde who was in his car waiting for a friend. Upon the friend’s arrival, the detainees forced her to get into the car. The suspects followed the victims towards Porto to buy drugs in various areas of the city.
According to PJ’s statement, “having taken possession of some of the money and assets that the victims had, they tried to withdraw cash from ATMs, but were unable to do so, and were only able to make a transfer through MBWAY.”
The group then released the woman, but the man remained imprisoned for 37 hours in two residential buildings located in Povoa de Varzim.
The detainees contacted the victim’s friend through social networks and asked to pay a certain amount, which was transferred to an account belonging to one of the accused.
The man was later released after the trio were approached and detained.
The detainees, one of them a foreigner, who do not have any professional activity, will be brought to the competent judicial authority for judicial questioning and the application of coercive measures.
