The parliamentary leader of the PSD said this Wednesday that the PS government fell due to “incompetence, cronyism and lack of republican ethics,” questioning the common sense of a prime minister who is unable to “see who is around him.”
“They don’t have to come up with half-baked excuses for paragraphs and statements. Dr. António Costa resigned for one reason: his government collapsed from within, surrounded by poorly explained cases,” Joaquim Miranda Sarmento criticized at the final session of the discussion on the specialty of the State Budget for 2024.
The parliamentary leader of the PSD focused his criticism on the Prime Minister “who said that common sense is needed”, questioning what was the common sense of António Costa in appointing Vitor Escaria as head of the administration, delegating important functions to his friend Lacerda Machado from the State or maintaining João Galamba in the government, the purchase of an “institutional war with the President of the Republic” or even the introduction of the Governor of the Bank of Portugal, Mario Centeno, into the “political arena”.
