The staffing crisis in the education sector will intensify in Slovenia in the next five years, RTV SLO reports on November 29.
About 4,000 primary and secondary school teachers will retire in Slovenia over the next five years. At the same time, enrollment in pedagogical universities does not change. But after them, graduates do not go to work in their profession.
“Very different students come, with different approaches, needs and understandings. There are also many problems in the field of education, and a young teacher who comes to school without an internship is not prepared for these challenges.”said the director of the Škoflic primary school, Roman Brunšek.
The Slovenian Ministry of Education is striving to solve the problem of staff shortages through scholarships and internship programs. The working group for the preparation of the National Educational Program is also rapidly developing its proposals to improve the situation.
