HomeWorldAngola's 2024 budget...

Angola’s 2024 budget will be voted on as a whole on December 12.

Angola’s General Government Budget (OGE) proposal for fiscal year 2024 will be put to a final global vote on December 12, the Secretary of the National Assembly (Parliament) announced this Wednesday.

According to Manuel Dembo, the decision was made this Wednesday at a conference of presidents of parliamentary groups led by the president of the legislature, Carolina Cerqueira.

The OGE 2024 proposal, approved in its entirety on November 16 by only positive votes from the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA, in power since 1975), sets costs and estimates global revenues at 24.7 billion kwanzas (27.9 billion euros).

The document, which is currently being discussed by relevant committees of the Angolan Parliament, estimates that oil production, including gas production, is expected to fall by 2.6% this year and forecasts gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 2.8%.

At least 57.8% of the total expenditure of this OGE 2024, that is 14.3 billion kwanzas (16 billion euros), will be allocated to servicing public debt, internal and external, as stated in the report on the rationale for the Angolan government’s proposal.

The conference of chairmen of parliamentary groups also approved the agenda of the plenary meeting on December 7, at which laws were proposed on the legal regime of state funds, on cryptocurrency mining, on gaming activities, insurance intermediation and the fight against smuggling of petroleum products. .

At the plenary session scheduled for December 7, Angolan MPs will also vote on a legislative authorization resolution that would authorize the Angolan President to enact customs tariff laws on import and export duties.
