Among those killed in the fire at a hostel in Almaty is at least one Russian citizen, the city’s mayor, Erbolat Dosayev, told the press on November 30.
“There is one confirmed citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan and one citizen of the Republic of Sakha”– he said.
Dosayev also noted that the current rules prohibit accommodation of guests on the ground floor, only auxiliary storage rooms, kitchens, etc. are allowed there. According to him, law enforcement officials are investigating why this rule was violated in the hostel.
The head of Almaty also said that the evacuated guests were provided with accommodation and food.
On the morning of November 30, a fire broke out in a hostel in Almaty. 13 people died, four victims sought medical help and a woman who was poisoned by combustion products was hospitalized.
