The State Duma intends to propose to the government to reinstate the ban on diesel fuel exports if its prices continue to rise, the first deputy chairman of the Duma Energy Committee, Igor Ananskikh, reported on November 29, Izvestia reports.
According to the deputy, the reason for the increase in fuel prices is the resumption of sales abroad. Oil and gas companies found it more profitable to export diesel fuel than to sell it domestically. Measures to curb prices had only a temporary effect, he added.
“That is why we are registering growth. “If it is very serious, the State Duma deputies will again raise the issue of stopping exports.”Anansky said.
He expressed hope that Russian oil companies will take steps to curb prices within the country in order to prevent the return of the ban on fuel exports.
Recall that in August transporters appealed to the Russian government to restore state regulation of diesel fuel prices, limit their exports and set diesel prices below 60 rubles per liter.
In September, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that a shortage of diesel fuel in several regions of the country could cause a catastrophe in agriculture. Thus, on September 21, farmers in the Rostov region were only able to buy a third of the diesel fuel needed for autumn work.

On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin introduced a complete ban on the country’s gasoline and diesel exports to curb prices. Subsequently, the export of diesel was allowed to companies that supplied at least 50% of their products to the domestic market. On November 17, the Russian government lifted the ban on gasoline exports.
It should be noted that the reason for the increase in fuel prices and its shortage in the Russian Federation is the “tax maneuver”, which provides for an increase in the tax on mineral extraction and at the same time reduces export prices, which should reduce to zero in 2024.
As a result, due to high fuel prices in foreign markets, it became more profitable to export it than to sell it domestically. On the other hand, this caused fuel prices to rise and bring them closer to global prices.
