Former PSP commander Aveiro died this Wednesday after suffering cardiac and respiratory arrest. Seraphim Sousa Tavares was found by a student in a ditch near the University of Aveiro.
Around 4:30 p.m., firefighters from Aveiro Velhos, Rua do Crasta, Verdemilho, received a warning about a man with a nosebleed. When operatives arrived at the scene, the victim was already in cardiac arrest.
Firefighters turned to the ambulance and resuscitation team for help. However, the VMER team was mobilized for another incident.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Aveiro. However, Seraphim Sousa Tavares did not resist and death was already pronounced in the hospital department.
The judicial police were called to the scene to investigate the circumstances under which Seraphim Sousa Tavares was found.
Victim was the commander of PSP Aveiro until 2019.
