Activists of the union “Young Farmers of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques” protested against too strict restrictions on their profession, France Bleu reports on November 30.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Young Farmers’ Union of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques organized a protest in the cities of Pau, Ortheze and Saint-Palais (New Aquitaine). The action aimed to raise public opinion about their situation, in order to challenge the authorities, since, according to the protesters, the decision makers “go over their heads”.
Farmers stored slurry, tires, pallets and bales of hay in front of the administrative buildings. They protest against overly restrictive restrictions on their profession and unsustainable regulations. The actions were carried out in front of several buildings of the Mutualité Sociale Agricole (mandatory social protection system for employed and self-employed workers in agricultural professions), in front of the buildings of the Agricultural Social Security and the Department of Territories and the Sea (DDTM 64).
About the night action to condemn “Administration abuses that cause the loss of our farms” This is also stated in the press release from JA 64 (Young Farmers of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
“The rules are ineffable, they are made by technocrats for bureaucrats,” the press release said. “A ‘shock’ operation was carried out to show our anger at an administration that does not understand or respect us!.
“What is the future of young people? “- asks the union. — “When we settle down, we want to do this work out of passion. Today we are subject to French regulations that ensure that we spend more time on the administrative side of our farms than anything else. And this is unacceptable!”
