
McLaren Racing has agreed to purchase carbon credits through reforestation projects in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest and CO2 removal initiatives in the United Kingdom and the United States, Malay Mail reported on November 30.
One of the deals was to buy carbon removal credits from Brazilian startup Mombak, which is restoring degraded land in the Amazon, while the second deal was with Scottish company UNDO, which removes CO2 from the atmosphere by improving rock erosion. .
McLaren also said in a statement that it is working with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, an Australian nonprofit that works to restore coral reefs. Australian Oscar Piastri competes for the Formula 1 team.
British company McLaren aims to reduce its emissions by 90 percent by 2040. For the remaining 10 percent, it will implement initiatives such as carbon offsets. The company has not revealed how much it is investing in its new “Climate Contribution Program.”
